Zipfel Lab at Cornell University - Spectroscopy Lab

Spectroscopy

We have some basic spectroscopy instrumentation in our lab that we share with the Cornell community for the measurement of absorption, fluorescence, fluorescence anisotropy, and time-resolved fluorescence.

Cary 300 absorption UV-Vis spectrophotometer - measures absorption spectra from 190-900 nm. It also has custom holders for measuring filter and dichroic transmission spectra.

PTI QuantMaster QM-4 fluorimeter - measures fluorescence emission and excitation spectra, steady-state fluorescence time courses and polarization anisotropy. (Link to the PTI Felix GX Software Manual)

We also have time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) instrumentation for measuring fluorescence lifetimes, either for cuvette measurememts or combined with one of the Zeiss confocal/NLO systems for Fluorescene Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM). TCSPC is carried in collaboration with the Zipfel lab.
